Portugal 2-1 Norway: Ramos Winner Proves Portugal Don't Need Ronaldo | Nations League Report

Portugal secured their place in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory over Norway at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon. According to Arena Live, Gonçalo Ramos' late winner — the man tasked with filling Cristiano Ronaldo's shoes — proved that Portugal are thriving without their legendary captain.

Key Moments:

36' - Kristoffer Ajer: Norway took a shock lead when Ajer controlled Martin Ødegaard's cross and fired an unstoppable strike into the top corner.
38' - João Cancelo: Portugal responded almost immediately. Nuno Mendes' long throw reached the edge of the box, and Cancelo produced a stunning strike to level the score.
79' - Gonçalo Ramos: The substitute sealed the win, latching onto João Félix's short pass and firing past Egil Selvik to send Portugal through.
88' - Francisco Conceição (Red Card): Portugal were reduced to ten men when Conceição received two quick yellow cards for dissent, but they held on for the win.

No Ronaldo, No Problem: With Cristiano Ronaldo absent from the squad, Portugal proved they are far from a one-man team. Gonçalo Ramos, who also scored in the reverse fixture, once again delivered in Ronaldo's absence. Bruno Fernandes controlled the midfield, while Vitinha, João Félix, and Rafael Leão caused constant problems for Norway's defence. The stats back it up: Portugal generated 1.79 xG compared to Norway's 0.45, with 20 shots to Norway's 9. This is a Portugal side that has evolved beyond its legendary captain.

Norway's Collapse: Erling Haaland was kept quiet by a disciplined Portuguese defence, managing just one shot on target. Norway have now lost three consecutive matches and sit bottom of Group A4. Despite Ajer's stunning opener, they were ultimately outclassed.

Portugal's Dominance: This victory extends Portugal's unbeaten home record to 12 matches and confirms their place in the quarter-finals with two games to spare. They sit top of Group A4 with a six-point cushion over their nearest rivals. The message is clear: Portugal are serious contenders, with or without Ronaldo.
